About Us

We are global leaders in water efficiency improvement projects.

We develop comprehensive and innovative solutions to drastically reduce Non-Revenue Water (NRW), optimizing resources and enhancing the operational and financial performance of our clients. With over 200 projects implemented across 5 continents, our expertise, specialized team, and sustainable approach position us as an international benchmark in efficient water management.

Story

Miya was founded in 2007 with the purpose of helping water utilities improve their efficiency by implementing projects focused on reducing Non-Revenue Water (NRW). Since our inception, we have combined resources and expertise in water and operational efficiency, establishing ourselves as a global benchmark in solving NRW-related challenges.

Projects

We have implemented over 200 projects across 5 continents, delivering efficient and sustainable water management solutions. Our work has significantly reduced both physical and commercial water losses, promoting resource conservation and improving the profitability of utilities—ensuring their financial sustainability.

Each project also leaves a positive social and cultural footprint. We are committed to a holistic approach that directly impacts communities by enhancing quality of life, strengthening local capacities, and fostering a long-term culture of sustainability.

Philippines

In Manila, we implemented a successful water efficiency project in partnership with Maynilad between 2009 and 2014, benefiting over 9 million people.

The project achieved outstanding results: Non-Revenue Water (NRW) was reduced from 64% to 34%, generating $441 million in financial gains. Service quality improved significantly, enabling 24/7 continuous water supply for over 3 million residents. More than 1,500 kilometers of pipelines were renewed, and the number of customers served increased by 59%. This project stands as a benchmark for sustainable water resource management.

The Bahamas

In New Providence, we carried out an ambitious water efficiency project between 2012 and 2022 in partnership with the Water & Sewerage Corporation (WSC), benefiting a population of 250,000 people.

We successfully reduced Non-Revenue Water (NRW) from 58% to 22%, leading to a significant decrease in infrastructure investment needs and operational costs. These results contributed to enhancing the financial sustainability of the water system.

Jamaica

We are implementing two key ANF reduction projects in Jamaica with the National Water Commission (NWC), impacting more than 600,000 people.

In Kingston (2015–2021), the project successfully reduced the NFA from 64% to 39%. In addition to improving system efficiency and avoiding further investment in new infrastructure, institutional capacity was built for internal management of the NFA, strengthening the operator’s financial sustainability. In Portmore (2021–2026), with a beneficiary population of 120,000 people, the NFA was reduced from 61% to 30% during the first three years of the project. As in Kingston, the project includes a strong knowledge transfer component to consolidate local capacities for efficient resource management.

CONCESSION MANAGEMENT

Throughout our journey, we have also successfully managed two leading water concession operators: Indaqua and Plainwater in Portugal. During our management of Indaqua (2016–2022), we increased the value of the business ninefold through operational and financial improvements—demonstrating our strong capability to optimize and transform water infrastructure.
