BBL Engenharia, Construção e Comércio Ltda., part of the MIYA Group and leader of the Eficiência Hídrica joint venture in partnership with CSS Construtora, has been awarded a new strategic project by COPASA in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
With an investment exceeding US$20 million, the project will deliver a comprehensive programme to reduce both real and apparent water losses in the municipality of Betim, which serves approximately 155,000 residents through nearly 48,000 active water connections.
The project includes a wide range of operational, engineering, commercial and community engagement activities, including:
- Installation of approximately 27.5 km of new water distribution networks and pipelines.
- Hydraulic sectorization through the implementation of District Metered Areas (DMAs).
- Installation, replacement and modernization of Pressure Reducing Valves (PRVs).
- Detection and repair of visible and hidden leaks.
- Installation and replacement of water meters.
- Commercial database updates for nearly 48,000 customer connections.
- Fraud detection and customer regularization activities.
- Hydraulic network monitoring using telemetry and control technologies.
- Community communication and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
The project requires close coordination between engineering, operations, technology and community engagement teams to ensure successful delivery and long-term improvements in network performance.
This is the second contract led by BBL Engenharia, in partnership with CSS Construtora, supporting COPASA’s operational efficiency programme. The project further strengthens MIYA Group’s presence in Brazil and reinforces its commitment to helping utilities improve water efficiency, modernize water supply systems and reduce Non-Revenue Water (NRW).
