Miya and the Water & Sewerage Corporation (WSC) continue to deliver measurable results through their long-standing Non-Revenue Water (NRW) reduction program in New Providence, The Bahamas.
Over more than a decade of collaboration, multidisciplinary teams from Miya and WSC have worked together to improve network efficiency, strengthen operational performance, and enhance water service reliability for local communities.
Since the beginning of the program, NRW levels in New Providence have been significantly reduced from approximately 56% of total system input. The initiative currently recovers around 4.2 million gallons of water per day, while NRW volumes have been reduced to approximately 2.6 million gallons per day. These improvements have contributed to the transition from intermittent supply conditions to more reliable 24-hour water service for many customers.
The results have been achieved through a combination of leak detection and repair activities, pressure management, infrastructure improvements, data-driven decision-making, and continuous knowledge transfer between Miya and WSC teams.
In addition to improving service levels, the program has generated substantial operational and financial benefits, while supporting more sustainable water and energy use across the network.
The New Providence NRW program demonstrates the value of long-term collaboration between utilities and specialized operational partners in delivering sustainable improvements in water system performance and resilience.
