World Water Day 2025

World Water Day

Water is life – yet for billions of people, reliable access remains a daily challenge. At Miya, we believe that smarter water management is essential for a sustainable future.

As of 2022, 2.2 billion people were without access to safely managed drinking water services. This underscores the critical importance of addressing non-revenue water (NRW) – water that is produced but not billed to consumers due to leakage, theft, or unmetered use.

Addressing NRW is critical to improving water conservation, enhancing the financial sustainability of water utilities, and ensuring that more water reaches consumers, especially in water-stressed regions.

At Miya, we are turning this challenge into an opportunity. By implementing cutting-edge technologies and collaborating with local communities, we have reduced NRW by more than 50% in multiple cities during 2024, saving water, reducing costs, and improving service delivery. From advanced leak detection to performance-based efficiency programmes, our mission is to ensure that more water reaches the people who need it – sustainably, equitably, and for the long term.

Tomorrow on World Water Day, join us in recognizing the urgent need for action. Every drop saved is a step towards a more sustainable future. By tackling NRW, we are not just preserving water—we are saving lives, strengthening communities, and securing our planet’s most precious resource for generations to come.

Let’s work together to turn water challenges into opportunities.
