Miya and WSC Recover Significant Hidden Water Loss in Cable Beach East DMA

Strong collaboration continues to deliver results in The Bahamas.

As part of the ongoing partnership between Miya and the Water & Sewerage Corporation (WSC), Miya’s field teams are combining data-driven network monitoring, nighttime inspections, and advanced acoustic leak detection techniques to identify hidden sources of water loss and improve system performance.

Recently, a significant non-visible leak was detected in the Cable Beach East District Metered Area (DMA) during a nighttime inspection. The investigation was initiated after an increase in minimum night flow and Non-Revenue Water (NRW) levels was identified through continuous monitoring of the area.

The successful intervention resulted in the recovery of approximately 12 liters per second, equivalent to 43 m³ per hour or approximately 0.23 million imperial gallons per day.

Beyond the impressive water savings, this achievement highlights the value of close collaboration between Miya and WSC. By transforming operational data into targeted field actions, both organizations continue to improve network efficiency, reduce water losses, and enhance service performance for customers.

This success reflects the practical day-to-day work behind effective NRW reduction programs, where data, technology, field expertise, and strong client partnerships come together to deliver measurable results.
