MIYA Awarded Major Water Loss Reduction Project by COPASA in Minas Gerais, Brazil

BBL Engenharia, Construção e Comércio Ltda., part of the MIYA Water Group, has been awarded a major water loss reduction and operational efficiency contract by COPASA in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Under the “Águas Integradas” joint venture, formed together with CSS Construtora, BBL will deliver a project representing approximately US$40 million in investment across the municipalities of Contagem, Belo Horizonte and Betim. The programme is expected to benefit nearly 195,000 residents and targets the recovery of approximately 220 litres per second of water currently lost within the distribution system.

The contract follows a performance-based model, linking project execution and operational improvements to measurable efficiency and water loss reduction outcomes.

The scope of works includes water network rehabilitation, hydraulic sectorization through District Metered Areas (DMAs), pressure management, bulk metering, active leak detection and repair, mitigation of irregular connections, and community engagement activities.

The project further strengthens MIYA Water Group’s presence in Brazil and highlights the Group’s capability to deliver integrated solutions that combine engineering expertise, advanced technologies, asset management and operational excellence.

Through this initiative, COPASA aims to reduce non-revenue water, improve system efficiency and enhance the sustainability and reliability of water services for the communities served.
